hominid,
Understood. Sorry for my outburst.
remy: It’s me who needs to be sorry (and also pass up that last glass of cabernet before attempting heavy duty thinking or typing) Thank-you for being understanding with someone who needs to pay better attention!
cry4turtles: It has been taking me awhile to fess up to what seems impossible, overwhelming, and wrong for me too. I don’t think any of us are concubines anymore than bunny rabbits and just look what they do. But for some odd reason unlike bunnies we masters of the universe are expected to run for cover, take precautions, and feel shame of our nakedness. I thank this Nogod blog site too for an open forum to vent and learn about our varying viewpoints here. As for that “natural as spring” Did you happen to catch Decoding the Exodus? (I think that was the title) Anywho, according to that program the likely site for our elusive Mt Sinai had trace evidence of an ancient water spring which despite those who would argue otherwise was the scene of a most “natural” event..(ie every bit as “natural as spring rain”)
Do any of you ever read or post over on CBN’s discussion boards? It’a a great source of an easy laugh.
and let there be phreedy….and it was so…..then god took a rib from phreedy and made a women for him….how nice for women….
cry4turtles;
It was literally the first time I was taken to “sunday school” (denomination unknown but, could have been catholic since I was living in Rome at the time) and was being told stories about another god guy. I asked the question/made a statement “so, it’s make-believe then”. And since you asked, I’m a guy.
Of course when you’re a kid, you don’t have much choice about whether or not you’ll be attending church, so I got dragged along until I struck out on my own after coming to the States at 17. I was “raised” throughout Europe, the Mid-East, and Africa. That gave me plenty of opportunities to explore a great variety of different religions.
I never came to understand how people could invest so much in such a fantasy unless they turned off their brain and allowed someone else to tell them what to think.
Think Jim Jones and kool-aid.
what:
I’ve been racing motocross for over a decade now, which was just about the same time the interwebs showed up in my house. The local sanctioning body is the American Motorcyclists Assn, and they issue a 6 digit member ID, of which the last 3 are supposed to be your racing # (so no two riders in the same class have the same #). My last 3 are 652.
Hence the chick magnet net handle mxracer652. It’s juvenile, but I’m too lazy to change.
…And since nobody cares, the bkj110 was the email ID issued to me by Penn State.
No creativity.
Charlie: that was tooooo goood! All I can say for those women is that they certainly have their hands full and as so I’ve been told “have broad shoulders and can take it” Then they wonder why I don’t want a sex change.
666: “Of course when you’re a kid, you don’t have much choice about whether or not you’ll be attending church” Now that should be written in stone too I think. I was sent to a hell, fire, and brimstone local church as a kiddo. I guess maybie that’s where I started getting my fill of it all. They used to just scream and carry on. Then if I recall their faces would shake and become beet red while they would wave their bibles at you, quiver, and make threats. I thought all hell was breaking out. I did try and be a good boy back then. Who in their right minds wouldn’t? Later on when I contemplated escape I started noticing how those places were either on as many corners as filling stations or their new construction sites had nearly been completed. Since escape seemed impossible I tried checking out some different kinds anyway. What an education that turned out to be!
Ps: I didn’t think that Jim Jones/Kool-aid stunt was none too cool.
“Please provide an example of how faith stops them from being able to thing things through reasonably…?”
After I give you a list as long as your arm will you promise to throw yourself in front of a train? If not then bugger off!

It thought as much. Be safe! Always, always where a helmut. My life was saved by one.
phreedm,
“That’s right. No one is forcing you to send your money…but the ACLU and AA FORCE every small community (because they don’t have the resources to defend themselves) to bend to their radical views. Huge difference…”
You do realize that it is the judge in these cases that decides how much money should be paid, right? So if you want to bitch, then bitch about the judges. Also, you clearly know nothing about the justice system. It takes money to fight cases, not fairy dust and god’s eternal love.

Tee Hee Hee, I love a good comedian!
