Gird your loins, Ron. It’s a tough row to hoe, but I’m confident you can do the job. Thanks for your commitment to helping keep the voice of freethought and reason alive in this country.

    Go Ron!

    Dave,
Why’d it take over a year from application to getting the postion? Kinda slow, no?
Were you waiting for someone else to vacate the position?

  4. hominid says:

Buckle up the bible belt sounds good. (In fact they might click it or stick it) Regardless thanks to Ron and with best wishes.

  5. BibleBeltBoy says:

Thanks everyone! I appreciate everyones good wishes and hope to meet many of you at the annual convention. As you can see my blog name is Bible Belt Boy … I’ve been an enlightened “lurker” for far too long. It’s time for me to throw my 2 cents into the fray and from the belly of the beast itself.

Why don’t you ask your questions right here? You might get more than one answer to the same question, depending on what you ask. There’s little about atheists that goes across the board.
Atheism itself is simply a lack of belief in any god(s).

    for instance ;-)

Yeah, that “lack of belief” thing… some theists think atheists lack the ability to have belief, however, I fail to understand how one can have “lack of belief” in something that obviously does not exist.

When crossing a two lane road that is straight and flat from horizon to horizon, does one have “lack of belief” that they will be hit by a vehicle that isn’t there?

Oh sure, but theists believe in something that can’t be seen. Not only can it not be seen, it can’t be felt, heard, touched and, it doesn’t do anything. How can one lack belief in something that lacks the ability to exist?

The truth is, christians lack the ability to believe in reality.

While crossing that two lane road, I not only have a lack of belief about being hit by a vehicle that isn’t there, I do not even think about a vehicle until I have some sense of it.

Same with gods. Without the constant whir of godbotherers to bring up the subject, I would not think of it at all.

I actually prefer to just come out and say – there is no such thing as god. But then you get the people who want you to prove the negative. And I’m just too lazy to go into the burden of proof thing, etc. etc. ;)

How does one contact or get involved with American Atheists in Oklahoma?

    apost8n8,

I would venture a guess that emailing Ron Pittser would be a good start:
