My daughter made "Support Our Gay Troops" rainbow magnetic ribbons for our cars. They get a lot of stares and some comments.
I'm in the Air Force and one of my good friends here is gay, although he can't say anything about it. I just feel sorry for him because he always has to watch his back and be careful and he can't really get involved with anyone because he lives on base. I have to argee with that soldier and that policy needs to go away.

I'm glad Alva didn't decide to come out when Pres. Bush visited him after his leg was blown off. They might have cut his VA benefits.

There is no reason why gays and straights can't serve side by side in the military. They're doing it all the time now. DADT is just a way to keep the enlistment numbers up, and allows the homophobes to keep kidding themselves.

As I have said before, Gay Rights is not a stand-alone issue. It is part of the Separation of Church and State.

Well, possibly, but I am not entirely convinced of that. Please explain to me why there is so much emphasis on gay rights within the American Atheist agenda. I am a lifelong atheist, but gay issues have not and never will be a high priority to me. I don't see why the two issues MUST go hand in hand. Atheist organizations have so little funding and membership, and are spread so thin, that I question why we constantly let ourselves get distracted in this way.

Are there "gay rights" organizations out there working for atheist issues? I seriously doubt it, but would stand corrected if that is the case. Please educate me.

And don't everybody pile on about me being anti-gay or not PC. I just would like to see American Atheists in general, and this blog in particular, pick its fights and be more focused on the subject at hand - that would be atheism, correct?

If I want to support and/or constantly read about gay rights, or save the whales, or environmental issues, or whatever, I look to the appropriate organizations!
