flanonblvr:
Pat’s predictions for last year included more hurricanes (we had less)and a megathrust event @ Cascadia (didn’t happen)
Why do people still listen to him? If the man tells people he gets his predictions from gawd, it would be nice if they were accurate predictions. The man needs anti-psychotic medication(s).
I don’t think Robertson was talking to gawd. He was just watching that new TV show, Jericho.
“Neutralizing” Robertson is a very appealing idea. I’m sure they have someone lined up to take his place at being “an embarrassment as an american and a discredit to the human race” though.
phreedm what do you think of robertson and falwell?
dear jp,
i come from a family where they think their kids should just grow up to be doctors and live with their parents until they’re either married or old and single with 233 cats. when i finished 5th grade we had to apply for a midle school so we apply for the top rated public schools [duh] but well buddha must have hated my family because i was placed in a crappy ass school where they teach you 3rd grade math in 6th grade so my mom got me enrolled in the nearby school, not to mention her freakout when she got the letter from sfusd. ST GABRIEL SCHOOL blah!
my mom doesn’t know i’m an atheist but i try not to show because she’ll probably kick me out of the house.
being surrounded by religious freak dont scare me. i got science.
sincerely,
bunktrunk
im in 7th grade by the way
JONBOY…FYI
even though I KNOW you really aren’t interested in learning…

Comment from: reason
Hmmm…pretty general question. Try being a bit more precise in what you’re asking…
“Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson predicted Tuesday a horrific terrorist act on the United States that will result in “mass killing” late in 2007.”
Didn’t Robertson do a similar Chicken Little
schtick a couple of years ago.
phreedm,said
“JONBOY…ah, just as I thought. And you wonder why I don’t waste time on you…”
In other words you do not have a answer that does not contridict the
bible and make you look bad?
phreedm said. “There are only two reasons to ask a question. One to seek knowledge. The other to be argumentative”.
Wrong again, the main point of asking questions is to define the TRUTH,
not to obsificate,and offer mindless
apologetics to defend a indefensible
book and belief system.
You ranted. “If you really studied the bible instead of pulling your verses off of an athesit web site you’d be able to see your error…but then again you’re not interested in seeking the Truth”
You erroneously creat a strawman when you accuse me of this,.. The problem is that you didn’t like what you read and chose to ignore that which did not fit your preconceptions of biblical criticism.
As I expected your silence has been deafening, you make a blanket indictment of the comments I made without providing evidence to the contrary.

Thank you for pointing out my typo. I will address that immediately. Unfortunately, your mistake was not typographical in nature.

Hands down, my favorite was the mid-term elections.
I want good health. I want middle age to be as fun as it can be.
I would love to have more atheist friends. Anyone moving to Tennessee this year?
Happy New Year All!! “
Hi Island! Just moved to E.TN this year, (Knoxville). What part are you located in?
I wish I could remember just one of those great old testament quotes about how women are much more than just personal property.
Anyway , my 2006 favorite was seeing santorum have to be polite as he left office.

Try these quotes from a “God of Love”
Leviticus And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.–.21:9
Deuteronomy And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her …. Thou shalt go in unto her.–21:11-13
If you see a pretty woman among the captives and would like her for a wife, then just bring her home and “go in unto her.” Later, if you decide you don’t like her, you can “let her go.”
Lamentations Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman.–1:17

yea but it’s hard to imagine a more pathetic figure than he and someone willing to prostitute him/herself to the same degree. but i agree with you.
CascadiaEventHorizon wrote:”Why do people still listen to him? If the man tells people he gets his predictions from gawd, it would be nice if they were accurate predictions.”
yea if god is so all-knowing and all-powerful wouldn’t he be able to get this stuff right. even if the prediction were wrong, god could make it happen just to cover robertson’s ass.
I predict that Robertson is going to have a massive brain hemorrhage some time in 2007, the FSM told me so.

LOL…well i have found the FSM to be as good a predictor as robertson or any of god’s other “prophets” so pattie boy better go see his doc.
I predict Pat Robertson does not have a brain, and therefore cannot hemorrhage. I do see the shuttle landing on his butt though.
Nogodpleasenadthankyou,
I find your name a contradiction in itself. Everyone has a God. To find yours, ask yourself what you spend most of your time, effort and focus on. Where your heart is, you will find your substitute for God.
Consider this, an atheistic society is one that has turned away from God, but to what?
For what purpose is life if we are merely the combination of time, matter and chance.
I hope that you and all others on this site never close your mind to the possibility that we are created with love for an infinite purpose by an infinite creator who holds the answers to the predicament of mankind.

Oh, so many gods have I!
Chocolate.
Coffee.
Cats.
Art.
Sleep.
and more.
None of them created the world tho…
More’s the pity.
Everyone has a God because we are designed with the knowledge of God inside us. How each person responds to this is different. Some choose to deny him, as evident in this forum, and define their belief system on the non-existence of something. Either God is real and requires the ultimate attention or God is not real and requires no attention at all. Atheism believes God is not real and still gives him a lot of attention – an intriguing paradox!
This shows that should one choose to believe, deny or run from God, the issue touches the hearts of all and cannot be merely pushed aside like the Loch Ness monster as it is intrinsic to our nature. Like it or not, dealing with the internal yearning to have relationship with God burdens us our entire lives as it is a human longing that is not satisfied any other way.
I am a young Christian. I was wondering, does Christianity offend you more than any other religion? If so, why? I just want to share that just because one Christian says or does something, that does not mean all Christians are the same, and it does not make it right. Pat Robertson said something to the effect of ” sometimes I’m a little off (in my predictions). My belief is that God is never wrong, so Pat Robertson’s prophecies are not true.

Not at all. It becomes more relevant because it’s the religion held near and dear by the vast majority of my friends, family, neighbours, and compatriots. When debating with many of the aforementioned they blatently ignore all other religions and effectively equate theism with christianity. I try to avoid this trap, and I’m glad that you at least recognize that yours is but one of thousands of competing religions.
Agreed. the problem is that the more splintered and fractured the christian belief set become, the more vacuous become its tenets. Remember that while at least one of two mutually exclusive competing opinions (beliefs) must be wrong, there is no reason to assume that the other is right.
I think he could have left the statement as “Sometimes I’m a little off.”
He has a track record (if he was real) that would tend to dispute that belief. After all he screwed up his creation so badly that he had to wipe it out and start all over…
Or if they are – it’s mere coincidence, liberal interpretation, or good luck. The best we can say about such predictions is that they are unreliable.
Just joined. Thanks for having Me!
