This is nothing new to me. When I went to my ultra conservative catholic school/church everyone was like this. Families of 6-14. They believed the kids are supposed to take care of the parents when they got old. Apparently they weren't aware of retirement plans. They looked down on working women. The dads had complete control of everything including when they wanted more kids. And contraception was evil because it denied people the "gifts from god".
Here's some of the observations I made.
1. If "god" is all powerful as they claim, why does "he" need an army?
2. They revered "mary" as a role model for motherhood yet she was an unwed teenage mother who apparently was also a virgin. How does that apply to normal women?
3. Human reproduction was not taught nor was it ever discussed because it was "sinful." Yet somehow these families managed to churn out lots of kids.

This is scary stuff, mainly because it's not a Christian-only thing. Jews and Moslems all do this kind of thing, while Atheists are having smaller families.

Do the math

With parents like that, sounds to me like these kids are going to grow up to be perfect candidates for de-conversion. Some arrows will ricochet.
