To whom it may concern:

I am writing this letter today to voice my support for the Romanian Humanists in their effort to fight legislation that would ban or limit criticism of certain religions. In the modern world, such an act can only be seen as barbaric and primitive. The freedom to speak an opinion is equivalent indeed as the freedom to hold an opinion. Thankfully, as yet, no nation has ever legislated against a 'thought crime' but to deny the basic freedom of expression, however distasteful it may be, is hardly different from barring an individual from holding such a dissenting opinion. This form of psychological and social domination via the limitation of free expression is always the first step towards totalitarianism; something I am quite sure Europeans of any stripe would hesitate to see repeated in history.

With Regards,
Imagine the world if nobody was allowed to speak out against idiotic ideas!

My atheism hasbeen assaulted almost daily since kindergarten; the only difference is that Science and Reason can easily hold their own against morons armed with superstition.

Wow! Scary. I think there are some laws like this in place in the UK. (Alex, can you confirm?) I remember hearing about it this summer when I was over there.

To paraphrase Robert Heinlein: "The price of peace (and freedom) is eternal vigilance."

This sounds like something Dobson and the like would like to do here. Let's hope this kind of lunacy doesn't spread.

Now is this against criticism of all religions or just the one the politicians belong to? Cause I can't see the different religions not criticizing each other.
There was an attempt to get a "relgious hatred" (Or words to that effect) act passed through parliament that would have had similar effect. The vote actually came not long after the Mohammed cartoons debacle and I was quite worried that this would be enough to push it through. Thankfully though it was voted down so there is still some pretense of free speech.

Technically there is a law against blasphemy on the books too but it is never enforced - it's a victimless crime anyway.

Speaking of civil liberties, those ACLU assholes are fighting city ordinances that ban feeding homeless people (including church run events).
General Question?
I am a Christian. I am looking for a solid argument from reason about the definition of "no god theology", if you will. Can anyone offer resources, links or even your own interpretation?

Also is faith the same as believing in god to an atheists. I mean faith, that the trust of something unsee/knowable could be probable or actual.

thanks,
won2have
There is no "no god theology".
There is no dogma that goes along with a disbelief in gods. Very simply, the argument from reason is that there is no proof that any gods exist.

Also is faith the same as believing in god to an atheists. I mean faith, that the trust of something unsee/knowable could be probable or actual.

Trust in the unseeable/unknowable is faith. I have faith that the sun will rise tomorrow, and that I will not go flying off the earth from a lack of gravity. That is based on seeable/knowable evidence of past experience, however, and is not set upon the words in a book written by anonymous men over 2000 years ago.
Having faith that there is a heaven, or god or anything the Bible promises is not based on reliable data or evidence.
