I can't speak for the religious

Then why did he write this article?

Over 90% of respondents said ?Yes.? In the same poll, only 49% claimed they would support an atheist for president. While Jews can take heart in these numbers, atheists and humanists can only shake their heads in astonishment.

Gleeson just doesn't get it. As I've said many times, it's more about perception then what one believes.

All anyone hears about atheists are court challenges to what most Americans hold dear. One should try to educate instead.

In some respects, science has far surpassed religion in delivering awe. How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, ?This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant. God must be even greater than we dreamed??

Obviously Gleeson is showing is ignorance about the bible...he should of listened to his own opening statement...

1 Corinthians 2:9
Hebrews 11:3
Isaiah 40:26

And on and on and on...

There is indeed plenty of awesome stuff to be experienced in this world---like the amazing semi-final US Open Tennis match between Roger Federer and James Blake. Except for the second set, when James was apparently having an out-of-body experience, it was top-notch tennis, and a thrill to watch. BTW, Federer won in 4 sets.

More fun than watching the Steelers beat the Dolphins 28-14 in the opening game of the football season. Definitely some kinks to work out of the system on Heinz Field-had me a little nervous there for a few minutes, fellas!

Spiritual Atheism? Well, I put on my long sleeved Steeler shirt(even tho it's too damn hot for it yet) and called my two older kids to make sure they were suitably coordinated for the watching of the blessed event. Couldn't find my "Terrible Towel" --that made me edgy. On the first score, I callled both kids and yelled WHOOO-hooooo! into their phones, and hung up. I talked to the TV all through the game. Scared my cats, I did.
Maybe atheism isn't spiritual, or a religion...but Steeler football fever is!

Phreedm said:

Everytime there is a court challenge in this country, atheists educate people. You're taught a little something called the Separation of Church and State. But due to your unbelievable selfishness and willfull ignorance, you never get a passing grade.

It's a shame people like yourself "hold dear" things like prozelytizing and bigotry, instead of things like the Constitution. So very sad and unAmerican.

Great article.

If the sun were a grain of sand, the stars in our galaxy would fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool. If our galaxy were a grain of sand, the galaxies would fill several olympic-sized swimming pools.

Ooohhh Ahhh a flaming bush... wow!
Water into wine... give me a break.
