Once Again, Ignorance Climbs To New Heights

“To put it simply, no Darwin, no Hitler,” said D. James Kennedy, president of Coral Ridge Ministries. “The legacy of Charles Darwin is millions of deaths.”

Yea — that’s right. The Coral Ridge Ministries in Fort Lauderdale, FL, are airing a so-called documentary on cable TV called “Darwin’s Deadly Legacy.” Now this group being called the American Taliban Theocrats are trying to blame Hitler’s actions in the holocaust on the scientific work of Charles Darwin. And I always thought it was the Christian thing to do, you know, persecuting jews for past twenty centuries. What do you think?BTE

    First post-

Thats just Crazy, Adolf Hitler was actually a Bible believing Christian, not an athieist.

    http://www.nobeliefs.com/Hitler1.htm

Hitler wrote: “I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord..” As a boy, Hitler attended to the Catholic church and experienced the anti-Semitic attitude of his culture. In his book, Mein Kampf, Hitler reveals himself as a fanatical believer in God and country. This text presents selected quotes from the infamous anti-Semite himself.

  2. remy says:

If anyone is interested in Hitler’s quotes, they are listed on phyrangula under Darwin’s Deadly Legacy. Quite the believer he was.

    Isn’t Darwin also responsible for:
    - global warming,
    - AIDS,
    - world wars 1, 2 and 3 (and most others)
    - drug abuse
    - chernobyl
    - natural disasters
    - wardrobe malfunctions

    What a crazy nut-job

This 60 minute special featuring Ann Coulter, author of Godless; Richard Weikart, author of From Darwin to Hitler, Lee Strobel, author of The Case for a Creator; Jonathan Wells, author of Icons of Evolution; Phillip Johnson, author of Darwin on Trial; Michael Behe, author of Darwin?s Black Box, and Ian Taylor, author of In the Minds of Men will show why evolution is a bad idea that should be discarded into the dustbin of history.
Wow!! what a list, all the masters of distortion, prevarication, and obfuscation in one show.

Here’s some more distortion/pandering from Ms. Katherine Harris

    Best line from her is:
“[saying separating religion and politics is] wrong because God is the one who chooses our rulers.”

If I remember from November 2000, not but Ms. Harris was a major part of choosing our ruler???

Until this moment I was unaware this
(above) Ms. Harris was the same Ms. Katherine (?) Harris of Florida 2000 election fame. Her statement about religion & the outcome of elections being (virtually) “determined by god” demonstrates these religious maniacs mentally-ill beliefs! For years I’d pondered WHY Ms. Harris was such a big crook to throw the Florida presidential election to the goof Dubya Bush. But now I learn she is totally a relgious freako – one who stupidly believes she is “helping out God” by using criminal methods to get a ‘God-fearing’ Republican moron elected. For a time I’d speculated whether Ms. Harris’ boss Jeb Bus “knew her” in the Biblical sense. That was the ONLY way I could understand that she could be such a crooked high state official. Now I see she is a totally dedicated Xian of great ferver – - – in other words she’s a G-D moron. No wonder the hate science, including evolution: they are too stupid to be enrolled in science classes.

  9. david715 says:

This sounds an awful lot like the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon where you can pretty much take any actor and relate him with Kevin Bacon. Here the silly x-tians are trying to pin their stupidity on Darwin by taking this bizzare route to somehow relating Hitler’s atrocities (a well-documented x-tian) with the naturalistic research of Darwin to make appear to be responsible. Very sly.

  10. DVanWechel says:

Just another example of how people such as James Kennedy exploit the ignorance of the masses to help fulfill their religious agenda.

    Disgusting.

But of course it’s well known that Hitler announced that he was doing Darwin’s work, not God’s work…

Hmmm….? Darwin was Hitler’s biological father? See it next week on As the Sperm Turns

  12. suttsteve says:

For the life of me, I can’t even imagine anything about evolution that could’ve actually driven Hitler to do the things that he did. It seems sort of like claiming that salt is responsible for world hunger.

  13. david715 says:

Yay! I knew I wasn’t the only who saw the connection. But seriously, religious genocide and ethnic cleansing have been going on LOOOOONG before the time of Darwin. I think I found this clown’s website: (http://www.coralridge.org/darwin/default.asp?ID=crm&ec=I1301)
I love how they quote the Columbine killers saying that they love “Natural Selection.” I’m sure if they’d said “I’m doing this for jeevus” it wouldn’t have made it into the video. And of course Ann Coulter had to contribute to the making of this fear-mongering nonsense.

  14. atomictesting says:

If we’re going to be giving credit to anything, the bible is responsible for Hitler. The idea that one group of people are “god’s chosen” was invented by them more than two thousand years ago. Read Judges in the bible. The chosen ones ride far and wide (well, to all the neighboring states) to exterminate inferior people.

Technically then, the Jews invented the very idea (in the Old Testament) that led to their extermination in the Holocaust.

NOTE: This is a statement of allegory. It is intended to satirize the premis of a stupid idea by introducing an equally stupid one. It is, by no means, evidence of my support for the holocaust or the biblical accounts of genocide.

There, now I feel a bit icky by having to resort to legalese to clarify my position before some dim-bulb asshole takes it and runs with it.

I did say that it was allegory ;) You and I are both aware of this, but the entire point of the exercise was to couch the problem back with them, and they did set the precedent by writing a bunch of books about it and compiling them into a bible.

  18. reluctantatheist says:

Tactic #2, appear to be saying something while saying nothing at all. Leave it to the reader to interpret and argue with the inarticulate.

  22. wiserd says:

That human beings are very bad at applying theories of evolution to other human beings is nothing new. Lets face it, we’re a bit biased in determining what a ‘fit’ human being is among other things. There’s a long history of racism. “Social Darwinism” did exist and did attempt to use scientific theories to try and justify a ranking of human beings. And it was immoral and we should say so.

Evolution of animals is one thing. Trying to use evolution to explain why humans are animals is, in my mind, what’s dangerous.

  23. alexatheist says:

What is so dangerous about applying evolution to explain our relationship to other animals? Personally, I find the fact that we are just another species of animal to be comforting.

oh phreedm what is thy problm?

your illogic is on display once again.

are you really suggesting that hitler formed an intellectual connection between darwin’s theory of natural selection and his twisted torture and experimentation with humans to create a master arian race?

if so, then any ruler who has slain a subjugated underclass while in power could be accused of something similar. As could royal families that insist on inter-marriage with other “royal blood”.

are you related to katherine harris?

  25. david715 says:

alexatheist, most religious people do not want to think themselves as simply animals or another class of animal. They belive people’s lives must have more “meaning” and “purpose” by saying we have a god-given “intellect” and “will.” As a result they can justify the destruction of earth’s natural resources and slaughter and extinction of animals by saying some sh*t like “god put them here for us to use so we should.”

Does anyone else ever worry that something like the holocaust could happen in America, with atheists? I just wonder if Bush or some other president announced something like atheists are destroying the American society and values, and should not be allowed to be in positions of power, or hold land or whatever, does anyone think the American public would follow him?? I know that is probably WAY far fetched, but it just seems like everyone in office (people representing the masses) hates us. It’s very sad and scary at the same time.

    Any thoughts?

  34. atomictesting says:

Lets face it, we’re a bit biased in determining what a ‘fit’ human being is among other things.

The whole problem with the idea is trying to define “fitness” vs. the unknown. It’s not who is smarter, or more athletic, or better looking – those things are used to select for mates when times are good.

It’s probably those whom have a genetic mutation that makes them immune to the next pandemic, or those that can survive best through nuclear fallout. Perhaps it is those that have dark skin or more hair on their bodies and survive increased solar radiation. It could be those that are clever enough to scrape by after a meteorite hits the planet. The problem with saying “survival of the fittest” is that one immediately applies their own idea of fitness to the problem.

Genetics is a little simpler than that. It’s more like a shotgun approach: produce millions of variants with small random mutations and make them all run the race. You won’t know which ones will survive until you know what hurdle they are to overcome. The hurdle seems to be pretty random, hence all of the variety of forms life takes.

  38. robguy387 says:

Although I haven’t read much about Hitler lately I’m sure he thought of Germans as The Master Race which was superior to all other races or ethnic groups. Hitler dwelled quite strongly on that point. But that does NOT matter at all *here* ladies and germs.

Hitler had imagined the Germans to be the finest example of the human species, and he was determined to either annihilate or enslave ALL OTHER races of people & of other nations. For example, Hitler planned to employ some American and some British people as SLAVES in the lands he planned to capture. These slaves would be put to work & that work would enrich ONLY the German people.

The balance of foreign men not needed for slavery at German enterprises would be slaughtered in assembly line fashion, same as he did the others in the camps. Some extra sexy foreign girls would be kept alive to be sex slaves as rewards for German men.

Hitler stated he would use mainly British and American slaves to operate his huge farms in what had been Russia, which would supply nearly all the food needed by Germany. He stated that the slaves who worked those Russian farms “would be permitted to bathe on feast days”.

This was CERTAINLY Hitler’s plan for applying *his* concept of “The Survival Of The Fittest”. However we certainly *need* to RECALL here that Charles Darwin did NOT “invent” EVOLUTION! It’s just a bald-faced scientific FACT that *evolution* does exist, and that it does work approximately as Darwin stated it operates. The “Evolution Theory” was simply an expression by a very gifted British scientist of what REALLY does exist and how sh*t happens.

We therefore CAN’T blame the ‘poor’ Charlie Darwin for having been the first scientist to accurately report to the rest of humanity’s “morons” how evolution really operates. It’s NOT Darwin’s *fault* – but greatly to his CREDIT that he made that wonderful discovery.

Similarly, it was NOT Albert Einsteins “fault” that he’d worked out the Theory of Relativity either. Relativitiy is an actual FACT that *really* affects how the Universe operates. Thus it was simply the work of a fine scientific mind to have discovered that ‘Relativity’ exists.

Einstein did NOT freakin’ *create* Relativity any more than Darwin had created Evolution! Thus Darwin was ONLY a gifted scientist who told us the TRUTH – before which we were ignorant. It was obviously NOT Darwin’s fault that the ruthless Hitler wanted to implement some very warped ideas of “evolutionary progress” and of “the master race”.

Judging from what I’ve been reading, Adolf Hitler got it 100% BACKWARD anyway. My information suggests that the Jewish race is approximately 12% *higher* in intelligence than the average of all other (European) races. Perhaps the Asian may also be up to 4 points higher than the European average. (?)

(So the Jews ought to have rounded up the ethnic Germans [perhaps] and put THEM into the camps instead)
    [Relax everyone - it's a JOKE!]

Nor was it Einstien’s fault that atomic bombs were built and used to kill hundreds of thousands of people. Just because he’d informed us moronic goofs that a helluva lot of energy could by ‘produced’ from a tiny amount of radioactive mass did not make him a Rotten Booger for saying that “E=(M)*(C)*(C)”

Only a Fundie crap-head would try to claim that evolution is “abominable” because it may have been featured in the mind of the world’s greatest mass murderng maniac. Evolution is an established FACT – and *facts* CANNOT be “evil” or “good” in and of themselves.

    Some wag had once said:

“The Tao Of Pooh Is That He Just Is”

    and also:

“The Tao Of Facts Is They Just Are.”

Of course when we realize that the person who’s been trying to besmirch the good name of “evolution” by coupling it with the name of a mass killer, IS nothing but a worthless tele-evangelist – we can see IMMEDIATELY what this “problem” is all about:

It’s just another *#$ stupid Christian know-nothing who is trying to act as though he knows something.

Actually the beginning of the making of the atomic bomb came from a little known Hungarian theoretical physicist, Leo Szilard. He was the first to come up with the concept of an atomic chain reaction.

Of course he was thinking in terms of the production of energy for industry and actually applied for several patients dealing with the concept of a nuclear chain reaction.

Up to that point no one had any idea how to harness the power of the atom.

The early work on fusion had many parents, many of whom were Jewish and many of those were working in the countries they called home since the Dark Ages…Germany, Poland, Russia and other Slavic countries as mentioned above. One of the pioneers was a female (German) who escaper Nazi Germany to Scandinavia. She has received little credit for her seminal work.

Having said that it all began about 350 +/- or so BCE with “The Laughing Philosopher” Democritus who predicted the Atomos. Them thar Greeks be some smart babies.

We, here in the goode ole US of A, still have bragging rights however; we have the most ignorant current government in the Western World. I believe there are some fundamentalists theocracy out there which are even worse. But, I repeat myself!
