God picks next Governor of Florida. Guess what? He’s a Republican. What do you think are the chances of that?Pastor: Lord Revealed Next Fla. Governor – Yahoo! Newshttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060522/ap_on_el_gu/election_governor”The Lord Jesus spoke to me and he said ‘There’s something I want you to know,’” said Dozier, pastor of the Worldwide Christian Center in Pompano Beach. “‘Charlie Crist will be the next governor of the state of Florida.’”
Question: Are people really that stupid? The all-powerful ruler of the universe talks to a reverend about the next governor of Florida, but doesn’t do anything about starvation or hunger or terrorism? Will anyone hold this guy accountable when he’s wrong?
Back to “Jesus” talking to this dude. Now, why would politics be on the top of this guys list of things to want to know.
Heck, I’d be like..Hold up a second here bro, Whats the deal with all the trouble here on earth.
I hate to even acknowledge that these non-thinking sheep even exist.
I’d like to see all these preachers get fired. I mean with out it they would be unemployed. Who really benifits from religion?

****** OFF TOPIC ******
Right or wrong what’s happening in California is not going to help change anyone’s veiws of atheists.
Now it’s not going to be just a local community but the majority of veterans that are going to form negative opinions of atheists.

Phreedm,
True, but then again standing up for the law is not about winning a popularity contest.
Sorry, phreedm, but you LOSE on this one. This site wasn’t a ’soldiers memorial’ UNTIL someone asked that the cross be removed from public land.
Funny how they don’t mention that.
Karen,
From what I have read from you here, I would say that you are more than just ?living with it?, you have won hands down over your past experience. I think most people who have had your problems would be too hurt to focus much beyond themselves, yet you have been a wonderfully compassionate and insightful contributor. I congratulate you on your achievement.
Which reminds me of one of the complaints I have had with religion: when someone manages a significant achievement, ?god-fearing? types always seem to want to say it is due to god, not the person. That always sounded to me like envious school kids who resent other?s success. ?I could have done that if I wanted to? sort of thing. Belittling true human achievement. On the other hand, any failings are entirely our fault. One of the big reasons so many people abandon traditional Christianity, I think. When we try hard and succeed, we want to be able to take some of the credit for it.
TomSD is correct on that, all we have to thank for what WE do is ourselves. Thank goodness Karen can see that her valor comes from herself, not a god.
That’s interesting about the toe length and genetic throwbacks. Let me check myself now…left middle toe seems to be shorter than the first two. Ok, good. Right middle toe…right middle toe…where the hell is my right middle toe? or any of my right toes??? or foot? or leg?
I am so twisted…
Alex.
Ren, Anthony and TomSD
Thank you for your kind words and support.
As Ren no doubt knows, no matter how far I’ve come, this will be a life-long series of adjustments for me.
And Ren, I too worry about the impact my condition has had and will have on my family.
Tom, you made a very good point, and one that has been with me since I had the ability to conceive of it. Rather than some invisible being helping me to survive, it was the extraordinary intricacies of the human brain that allowed me to separate myself from reality during intolerable periods-and to box that reality up and hold it until such time that I was more equipped to deal with it.
I don’t think I am special in that regard. I believe we all have this capacity–and many other talents of the brain yet ot be discovered.
if any veterans don’t have a “good” opinion of me……fuck ‘em
Given that the GOP is in control of both houses by overwhelming margins, and that the Democrats don’t have anything resembling a serious candidate in the race, it is self-evident that the GOP could nominate a ham sandwich and win the race. I don’t need a pipeline to an imaginary being to tell me that.
Bones…I believe you missed the point. It wasn’t a question of what the law currently states. It was a matter of perception.
Sometimes winning a battle isn’t the right path to winning the war…
“it is self-evident that the GOP could nominate a ham sandwich and win the race”
Isn’t that what they already did?
