I just wonder what would be the outcome if the BSA refused to allow African Americans or Jewish people into their organization? Let them discriminate all they want to, BUT, pull all their federal funding money, and make them pay tax's like all private clubs.
ITA with Jonboy. I'm new here (the blog, but not the A/A site) but have long followed the sordid dealings of the BSA.

This always makes me want to buy and eat more girl scout cookies too. I've been trying to post around and see if anyone knows why there's not more furor from the religious right over the tolerance of the Girl Scounts.
The kid that painted "I'm gay" on the back of my son's car was just touted in the paper for receiving his Eagle Scout award.

When I tried to beg out of my voluteer position in Girl Scouting many years ago on the grounds that I was an atheist, I was told just not to tell anyone, because they jsut didn't have enough volunteers.
***
This back-door bill is outrageous. It's one more step on the RR's parade route.

Tying the BSA to Defense Dept bills!!
In addition to the anti-gay and anti-atheist practices...I can see this as strengthening the old paramilitary ties and lead to recruiting kids from BSA into the big boys army like Hilter did. Gee lets set up BSA packs in low income areas tied to Community Development grants and suck even more minorities into Bushes army

Bigot Scouts of America strikes again.

Karen, Do the scouts no that their new Eagle Scout scrawled a public admission of his gayness on your sons car?

Oh, and is the Eagle Scout or Fleagle Scout?

Well, I find the whole thing just...ridiculous.
Tying an addendum to the BSA in a defense bill?!? WTF?
1 sentence above did strike me as somewhat off:

-Who has a national executive arrested for receiving and distributing child por_nography.

Am unclear on this point: which nat'l executive? Was this person guilty?
Until that's clarified for me, the rest of it is just bugfuckery.

TW
Heh. "his ,/I>gayness" heheh.
No, the scouts don't know. As far as I know, anyhoo.
Hell. It could have been the requirement for one of his merit badges.

Eagle Scout must not be as hard to achieve as it used to be. I've seen several teens make it that really surprised me.
My brother used to be in the Order of the Arrow. RoostaH's post made me remember that. They sure had a lot of secrets for a non-secret society.
Adding unrelasted stuff into bills is an old game in washington. it isused to get small pet legislation through on the coattails of popular legislation, and it can also be used to poison legislation that someone does not want to go through.

Just add the appropriate rider to the bill, as you need.

If someone votes for a bill with a poison rider, you can claim they voted fro some hideous thing.

If they vote against it, you can claim they voted against the main bill.

Politics is just plain nasty.
He's da King - he do what he want - you gotta problem with dat !
Besides, some of you don't follow rules, why should he.

Why is it Libertarians don't like public (government) schools ? How many of you believe your kids should recite the pledge of allegiance at school. Don't answer - I don't want to know.
