Finally these islamic fundies have reached the center power. Now they must demostrate their real political ability and goals. We will see if the will unleash their hate or change their program.
I see a parallelism with Iranian and American situations. Every country can democratically choose his own leaders but the world is not compelled to follow such decision.
If Hamas start causing dangerous troubles the first move from USA and Europe should be cut their financial help to the Palestinian authority.

Tha palestinians had a clear choice in the election: either vote for a party full of greed and corruption or for a party which preached hatred for the ones who took away their homes. If you were given this choice, which would you vote for?

The real problem is that both groups are pretty much the same: do what is best for me and those close to me and the hell with everyone else. Pretty much the same problem we hae here in the US. But this only works if only one person or group is being selfish and the others are too ignorant to see what is happening.

What we see happening in world politics is a classic example of repetitive prisoner's dilemma game: betray the other guy once and he soon learns that it is to his advantage to betray you rather than treat you honestly. The only way out is for those who have the positions of power to stop being selfish and start treating others fairly. Doesn?t look to me like that is going to happen with this administration.

Another example of religion corrupting the will of people. It seems that the separation of religion and state in the Middle East is only a beautiful dream

I still don't think hate is driven by religion. The communists and Nazis hated each other; neither were religious in the convention understanding of the concept.

The argument is over "who's story is true." But it's not a religious thing. It's human nature. The excuse can be any cause: religious, social, political, economical, etc.

And in the sidebar: Does anyone know why Nazi is always capitalize and communist is not? Just wondering.

It is contended by many that ours is a Christian government, founded
upon the Bible, and that all who look upon the book as false or foolish
are destroying the foundation of our country

Our Constitution was framed, to declare and uphold the deity of Christ
