http://apnews1.iwon.com//article/20060104/D8EU165O2.htmlGotta have a post about the religious Jew who helped screw up the country. He even went to my college.Lets hope he helps to fix the country, and toast all those who improperly used their power in Congress, whatever their religion or party!Argg! This is probably just the tip of the iceberg, and religion has little to do with it (except that whole religion = morality thing).

    Bob,

    About your bunny:

I think that’s why creationism is so essential to the Christian paradigm. God is (must be) transcendant. Without evidence, he is reduced to a pink bunny. Creationism provides the evidence that affirms God’s existence.

Evolution removes the evidence and consigns every god concept to human imagination.

This guy Abramoff seems to be connected to big payers all over the place. If you read the blogosphere, he’s involved in all sorts of bad doings. He’s agreeing that he’s guilty, and swearing to tell the truth about all. Some say that even the court won’t let him tell everything he knows.

This is what bugs me about the Now. Our current leaders are engaging in crude crony capitalism and our representatives are selling thier votes to thier buddies in business. Ill-defined and mismanaged war waging, sick torture, unwarrented domestic spying, ect…are all suddenly part of the “normal” game. The hypocrisy and greed is blatant, and only barely hidden by the media image manipulation.

So, how does it happen that my country is now an incompetent oligarchy of silly fools? Here’s my worst theory:

If these politicians and such all believe what they say they believe, then many if not most are dutiful Christians, and not only that, but probable Protestants. Many of these folks, perhaps GWB himself, believe that we are now living in the “end times”. Hell, this belief is now practically an industry in the USA. So, nobody cares because it’s the end of the world, there will be no history to go down in, and Christians are forgiven for all thier lying an cheating and stealing and whatever other debauchery lies on thier guilty minds.

So, you can break the law if you want to.

“The Constitution is just a goddamn
piece of paper.” (reportedly said recently by GWB to a staffer).

Tim: I’m here precisely because it is an Atheist community.

atheiststatic: Why exactly? Could you please explain that? So far all I’ve seen you do is insult people.

that’s why he come here. Insulting, irritating and slandering atheists is a theist pasttime.

    atheiststatic is right.
You have called (2 people) morons.
You have toned down a bit, but only a bit.
Truth be told, we’ve exchanged choice words on more than 1 occasion. I have indeed used the appeal to ridicule fallacy myself.
Then again, I reached out to you, because I thought you were in pain.
Here’s a link (I may have given it to you before): http://www.candleinthedark.com/logic
Mostly, you drop in here, drop incendiary remarks, & refuse to consider other people’s points of view.
    answers.com – debate:
    “1. To consider something; deliberate.
    2. To engage in argument by discussing opposing points.
    3. To engage in a formal discussion or argument. See synonyms at discuss.
    4. Obsolete. To fight or quarrel.”
I think mayhap you’re using the obsolete definition (#4).
Did you actually go & read the commentary at talkorigins.net, as I suggested, lo these many mos. ago?

I do recall you admitting you just came here to simply argue.

& honestly, life would be vastly simpler, if I could abrogate my personal responsibilities as a moral person, & vest it all in some ephemeral being (who oddly enough stopped interfering in our affairs the moment the bible was written), lay back, & let someone else do all the heavy lifting.

Of course, all those items would still be sitting there, once I woke up from the dream.

True, pretty much. But I’m going to have to add a crucial amendment to your observation and point out that creationism does not provide any positive evidence whatsoever, but it does provide the illusion of evidence for those so blinded by faith that they will just take propagandist’s word for it while refusing to look any further.

    The latest on Tom DeLay:
If you missed any of the latest evidence because of the holidays, here it is:

DeLay spent $1 million in donations to his various committees and charities for ?48 visits to golf clubs and resorts with lush fairways; 100 flights aboard company planes; 200 stays at hotels, many world-class; and 500 meals at restaurants, some averaging nearly $200 for a dinner for two.? (Associated Press, 12/21/05)

A group connected to DeLay took $1 million from Russian tycoons ?specifically to influence DeLay’s vote on legislation.? (Washington Post, 12/29/05)

The guilty plea by Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff ?appears to be drawing an ever-tighter ring of evidence around the former House Republican majority leader, Tom DeLay, and other senior Congressional Republicans.? (New York Times, 1/04/06)

  13. Living in Hell says:

Wow, now I hate Tom DeLay and Tyson Chicken even more than before (wow I just realized how strange that sounds). Also off topic but this should give you all a good laugh, I read this one post on this message board (don’t have a link and never will) and the person was obviously unbalanced and was ranting about how a fossil of the newly discovered relative of the crocodile (nicknamed Godzilla) was absolute proof of Intelligent Design because quote: “Jesus put this creature on our planet for us to befriend and play with like dogs and cats and enjoy the creature’s company!” I replied with a “Look at that picture, I’m sure that we would enjoy the company of that ancient crocodile like we enjoy shark attacks.” I just sat there for a while laughing about the thought of him trying to wrap his mind around that comment when he posted another comment which was completley irrelivent. Quote: “We need to bring prayer back into our schools. In this country Jesus has been replaced by a condom! What do you think of that?” Really the only thing that made me think was “Those must be some pretty interesting new Jesus statues.” Oh but I do have a link to a picture of the crocodile,

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/11/photogalleries/godzilla/

If the link doesn’t come up properly, google “Crocodile ancestor godzilla” and go to the third link down.
