One thing I'm going to be doing in the new year is thinking about how the "product" of atheism or secularism doesn't compete as well as religion does, in America and many other parts of the world. I have some vague ideas about why that is. Religions are social institutions, where people get real or percieved social benefits by going to church functions. Can atheism do something like that? When I've gone to local meetings of atheist or intelligence groups, it's usually a small group with an unfortunately high percentage of dysfunctional people. Is atheism a small percentage of people because we lack enticing social benefits? Is atheism too simple a philosophy to create such a social club, and we'll have to use humanism to do it? Thinking about these questions will be the first part of my new year.

Can't promise to do actual work, But my brother, dad and I all got membership cards (along with a donation) for that party we're supporting. Firt time ever!

The last few years has seen one corruption scandal after another and it's time people got involved and stop voting the same crooks in power time and time again.
Hey Dave, can you install a spell check for the hole blog?...PLEASE????

My new years resolution is....

to get through my long, long list of books I want and need to read.

Do more for the liberal and independent parties.

And loose the five pounds I put on since I moved to northern Cali! It is too cold to sweat it off and I like to eat! I guess the next step is a sweat box. YUCK!
I'll have to be quick and I as result of some of these resolutions I will probably drop off for a while. My goal is to redefine liberalism and rally behind what I see as a just cause. One of my goals here is to spread unity among groups with a shared cause. This country has been run by myopic, arrogant oligarchs and plutocrats for too long. We need to redefine our goals and unify against what I see as a malevolant force that rails against atheists, liberals, homosexuals, etc. and take them to task for their failed agenda. We need to bring on our grassroots effort to halt those who are driving back to the gilded age.

I hope to get involved in using my design skills to help candidates and fight the tide that seems to have swept over this nation and lured the masses to sleep with empty promises. Can you tell I'm getting riled up? I guess I need to be to be motivated.

Spanders, you go get 'em. Like Larry Flynt said at his book signing.

The only way to deal with corruption in the government is to create a revolving door in Washington. This requires that everybody get out and vote.
