Even the 'puppets' want us out. And then Iran will move into the south, Turkey will move into the north, and the sunnis in the middle will wage a gorilla war with both for decades to come. This scenario is pretty much inevitable no matter how long 'we' decide to stay.
Having been in a war, not WWII thank you very much, I second your thanks. We are loosing these fine folks at an alarming rate and it won't be too many more years before they are all gone. I don't know if they were our finest generation or not but between the depression and the war they had more negative things to put up with and deal with than any other generation and they seemed to have pulled it off pretty well. Thank You!!

It seems to me that as with a lot of thing in Mess-O-Potamia, the army boys are dammed if they do and damned if they don't.

Is breaking in to houses in the middle of the night terrorism? If we consider it the lawful use of force then it should not be considered terrorism. Is it terrifying? I would certainly think so.

Unfortunately attempting to win the peace in Iraq has thus far proven to be far more difficult than winning the war. I for one have very little confidence that any meaningful long term democratic stability will exist in Iraq in the forseeable future.

I support the troops - but not the mission.

A lot of good people lost their lives in the pearl harbor tragedy. As a fellow vet I am grateful to the ones that gave their lives in defense of our country. Also I salute the survivors of all past wars as well as the ones on the front lines today.

It's to bad all vets don't feel the same way about their brethren.....

"there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the--of--the historical customs, religious customs. Whether you like it or not...Iraqis should be doing that."

John Kerry ...on Face the Nation, December 4th, 2005.
So, you're saying we should be terrorizing people? Great idea.
In the first place I find it hard to believe that ANYONE who comes into this Blog on a regualr basis, and is an athiest, would ever believe ANYTHING a politician from either party would say. Secondly, while going into a home in the dead of night to hunt for people who are doing their best to kill you and your fellow soldiers would probably scare the hell out of anyone, calling it terrorism is more than over the top. If the Iraqi people would help find these insurgents and turn them in these raids wouldn't be necessary but the simple fact of the matter is that they, by and large, don't help. Now they may have good reasons not to help, like their personal safety, that I don't pretend to know but calling our own people terrorists is beyond contempt. I know Kerry said that but how can anyone believe a man like that? I don't believe a word that comes out of Bush's mouth either as politicians only know how to get elected or re-elected that is their only goal in life. I defy anyone of you out there in cyber land to go to Iraq, walk around Baghdad, see your freinds blown up on a daily basis and not try and do something to stop it before it happens to you. If these guys ran into a home in the dark of night and killed everyone in the building just to prove a point then I maight have to agree with Kerry but nothing like that has ever happened. If we really wanted to prove a point we could just turn the country into glass. Everyone in the Midle East would understand that now wouldn't they?

Let me start with thanking all the vets. Second I hate John Kerry but I think all he was trying to say is that the Iraqi military should be there going into the homes. I watched the show on the Discovery Times channel (Off to War, I think that was the name) and was horrified that US soldiers were entering Iraqi homes without even a translator present. I'm sorry but if you can't even explain to the Iraqi family why you are entering their home how do you expect them to view you. The family looked horrified and totally confused, the American commander didn?t even know a word of Arabic and the Iraqi man looked like he was just nodding to what the American commander was saying because he was scared

Another "thank you" to the vets. We have some very brave men in this country and I think that each and every one is a hero.

On to the "home invasions" - Thank Mr. Bush. What's going on is sad. No doubt. I'm sure that our men and women over there feel the same way. But you know what? That's their job. My little brother will be going on his second trip there in beginning to mid 2006 and my 46 year old, retired father, who survived cancer a few years ago (but was left with permanent cotton mouth) is leaving for Iraq on Jan 16th. It's about time for a plan to get the hell out of there.
Sorry, I probably went a bit off there, but it's a sad situation and I hate that my father is going.
