Bible Bash: Old Testament

As suggested by our own Reluctant Atheist, and in honor of the Jewish New Year, this thread is dedicated to the Jewish God. As most of you know, the OT god is very different from the NT god. The OT god likes to smite, destroy cities, and blow stuff up. He’s more like a Terminator than a Creator. He really doesn’t like blasphemers, gays, women, or those nasty false prophets who say they are his son.So sticking strictly with the Old Testament, list your favorite OT stories inconsistencies. There’s a zillion of them, so please stay on topic — this thread is going to be long!

Someone suggested we check out evilbible.com?

Well, here is a refutation to that entire site: http://www.therefinersfire.org/challenging_atheism.htm

    Carmen,

    Silly me.

I looked at the site you posted, read a few things and decided it was too weak and ill-considered to warrent any more effort on my part.

I especially like the way you use bible quotes to counter (restated) atheist questions. Do you seriously fail to realize that atheists are not going to place any credence in bible quotes?

I conclude that you are only really interested in preaching to the converted.

Then I realized that it was (probably?) your own site.

You certainly have a high opinion of yourself. It seems to me that it is not justified.

Why would anyone not want to believe in God. If nothing more it makes you a better person, you can’t deny that.

Hmm, let’s see : Hitler. Himmler, Goering, Goebels – all believers in not only a god, but the Christian God. Is that enough to deny your ludicrously simplistic assertion?
