Justice Sunday

And now, a quick word about Justice Sunday.We?ve always known that the Republican party was taken over by the Christian religion, although when we said it, the idea was scoffed at by many.Now that the GOP leadership is saying that a vote against the GOP is a vote against ?faith?, AKA Christianity, our point is validated. However, this is not important.What is important is the next step. Our whole country is governed by a system of checks and balances among the three branches of government: the executive (President W), the legislative (Congress), and the judicial (Supreme Court). Each of the three has a different purpose, and none of the three has absolute power.As of now, two of the three branches are GOP, which we now know is acknowledged as run by the Christian ministries (deal with it naysayers, you know I’m right). Justice Sunday is their big push to dominate the Judicial branch with the GOP as well. This will mean that all three branches will be run by a single entity, giving the Religious Right complete and absolute control over the government.This is not crazy talk. This not alarmism. This is how close we are to a theocratic government, with no checks, no balances, and no difference from other theocratic nations that we all view as backwards.Christian or not, we must all fight any entity that seeks to take over all three branches of the government.

    It is my fervent hope that the Republicans will prove so radical as to drive away the more moderate members of the party. We MUST work within the Democratic party in order to get amd maintain a seat at the table.

    I also hope/believe that the new pope will drive Catholics out of the church.

    Well, of course the curch is trying to take over…again. The thumpers arn’t gonna stop till their gone, and I get the feeling thats gonna take awhile. Our numbers are rising, theirs are falling (according to the ARIS poll) but it’s gonna a long while. We just gotta keep doing what were doing. Eventually it’ll work, mabye not in our lifetimes, but eventually.

    Scary stuff.

    Well, at least we still have the filibuster to block Bush’s nominees — until Frist gets his way.

    Watch out for George Allen in 2008. This guy is pandering to the Religious Right bigtime: http://loper.org/~george/archives/2005/Apr/937.html

    BTW, thanks Dave for this blog. Time for atheists to get our message out.

    God’s Only Party (GOP) is working feverishly to promote a religious fundamentalist agenda. In Congresss they have proposed for passage:

    Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO 8th) has proposed H.J.Res.7, an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to allow prayers in public schools;

    Richard Shelby (R-AL) has proposed S. 520 to limit the jurisdiction of Federal judges in cases involving god(s);

    Robert Aderholt (R-AL 4th) has proposed H.R. 1070, the sister bill to S. 520 in the House;

    Rick Santorum (R-PA) has proposed S. 893 The Workplace Religious Freedom Act;

    Walter Jones (R-NC 3rd) has proposed H.R.235 Houses of Worship Free Speech Restoration Act to amend the IRS code to allow churches to become political organizations.

    In Alabama there is HB 716 to allow ID teaching instead of Science.
    In Florida there is HB 837 and SB 2126 gives cover to students or professors who want to teach ID instead of real Science.
    In Missouri there is a bill to declare that Evolution is controversial and refers school children to read their bible.
    Pennsylvania has HB 1007 requiring school children to learn ID.
    Texas has HB 220 to require teaching ID as well.
    Then comes New York with one bill to require the posting of the 10 C’s in schools and all other public arenas and then another ID bill to require god along side of Darwin in all Science textbooks.

    What can you do? Support the GodlessAmericans Political Action Committee. And Support It Now! We need it to fight back against this tremendous level of attack from the fringe fundamental evangelists.

    When’s OUR Justice Sunday? Aren’t us Atheists the most ridiculed group in the USA, only next to the Arab-Americans and the gays?
    More like just-us Sunday. Will these theocrats ever give us a bloody break?
